Heat Tracing, Freeze Protection, and Process Heating Solutions for Industrial Plants

When a freeze event hits a chemical plant or a viscosity-sensitive process line cools below spec, the difference between a controlled response and a multi-million-dollar shutdown is whether someone designed, installed, and is actively monitoring the heat tracing system.

That is what we do at WilsherCo. For more than 47 years, our team and our WILECO division have delivered single-source industrial thermal solutions to Gulf Coast plants in oil and gas, chemical processing, power generation, government, and commercial industries. From the first heat loss calculation through commissioning and long-term lifecycle management, every project runs on one contract with one accountable partner.

The six Solutions on this page describe how we package that capability for the way our customers actually buy. Audits feed remediation work. Freeze protection turns into year-round programs. Turnkey installs hand off cleanly to smart monitoring. They are designed to fit together because the plants we serve do not run on disconnected products. They run on systems that have to keep working through Texas summers, Gulf Coast hurricanes, and February freezes.

Six Solutions, One Single-Source Partner

Each Solution below has its own dedicated page with technical detail, scope of work, and project context. Click through to the Solution that matches your need, or contact our team if you are not sure which fits.

Smart Heat Trace Monitoring & Remote Management

IoT-enabled monitoring of new and existing heat trace systems. Remote dashboards, alarm notifications by SMS and email, predictive maintenance scheduling, and monthly system health reports. Built on Chromalox EMS, RAYCHEM NGC, Thermon Genesis, and other supported platforms.

Industrial Heater Repair & Replacement

Diagnostic, repair, design, and replacement for process heaters—including circulation, immersion, in-line, and packaged skid heaters. Multi-brand service capability across Chromalox, Indeeco, NextThermal, and other carried lines. Root-cause analysis to extend heater life and avoid recurring failures.

Process Heating & Temperature Maintenance

Electric process heating and temperature maintenance for viscosity-sensitive lines, tank and vessel heating, sulfur and heavy crude pipelines, resin and wax product lines, and steam-to-electric conversion projects. Heat loss calculations, thermal design documentation, and integration with monitoring and control systems.

Freeze Protection & Winterization Programs

Annual freeze protection and winterization for Gulf Coast industrial plants. Pre-season audits scheduled August through October, system certification documentation for insurance and compliance, priority response agreements during freeze events, and post-incident upgrades. After Winter Storm Uri, this is no longer a reactive service. It is a year-round program.

Heat Trace System Audits & Lifecycle Management

Formal heat trace system audits with circuit-by-circuit assessment, insulation resistance (megger) testing, ground fault verification, control panel function checks, and code compliance gap analysis against NEC 427, IEEE 515, and UL 515. Written audit report with prioritized remediation plan and capital planning support. Often the highest-value entry point in the customer lifecycle.

Turnkey Heat Tracing Design-Build

Single-source design-build for new heat tracing systems and major retrofits. Site survey, heat loss calculations, design drawings, material supply across 20-plus stocked brands, custom control panel fabrication, installation, commissioning, and operator training. One contract, one accountable partner, no procurement hand-offs between vendors. Our clearest differentiator in the Gulf Coast market.

Why WilsherCo

Three things separate us from product-only OEMs (who sell cable but cannot install) and labor-only contractors (who install but do not design):

WilsherCo - Icon 1

Single-source design-build under one contract

One contract, one accountable partner—from heat loss calculations through commissioning—helping EPC firms, government project managers, and plant capital teams run cleaner procurement by eliminating vendor-installer handoffs.

WilsherCo - Icon 2

20-plus brands carried in stock

Barksdale, Chromalox, DEKORON Unitherm, Drexan, Gefran, GESTRA, Hammond Power Solutions, Indeeco, Kerotest, Marsh Bellofram, McDaniel, NextThermal, Nextron, Nova Swiss, Pyromation, Quality Gauge and Valve, Reotemp Instruments, RKC Instruments, Schneider Electric, Square D. We do not have a private label brand. Multi-brand stocking lets us spec the right product for the application, not the only product the OEM happens to make.

WilsherCo - Icon 3

Federal, state, and local government client experience

Capability statements, set-aside qualifications, and the documentation discipline that government procurement requires. A buyer set most heat tracing OEMs do not pursue through the same sales channels.

Industries We Serve

Our customer base spans the industries where heat tracing failures cause production losses and compliance exposure: chemical and petrochemical plants, oil and gas (upstream, midstream, and downstream), power generation, federal and state and local government facilities, commercial buildings, food processing, and transportation. Each industry has different heat tracing demands. A chemical plant maintaining caustic line temperature has different priorities than a compression facility winterizing condensate drains, which has different priorities than a federal facility documenting freeze protection for risk management. Our Solutions adapt to those differences.

What is Heat Tracing? Learn More

If you are new to industrial heat tracing or want to understand the technology before scoping a project, our resources library covers the fundamentals: how electric heat tracing works, the four cable types (self-regulating, power-limiting, constant-wattage, and mineral-insulated), when to choose electric versus steam tracing, and how a heat tracing system is designed from the pipe outward.
